How we work
We start from primary sources: company filings at Companies House, property records at HM Land Registry, planning applications and decisions from Newcastle City Council, announcements from the North East Mayoral Combined Authority, data from the Office for National Statistics, and announcements from the businesses involved. Where a story reaches us as a press release, we write it ourselves from the facts we are given, check what we can against the primary source, and say who supplied it.
We do not publish press releases word for word, and we do not rewrite other publications' reporting. Where a claim rests on a filing, a dataset or an official announcement, we link to it.
Some of our drafting is done with the assistance of AI tools. Since 24 October 2026, Sam Allcock reads every story before publication, except stories based on press releases submitted to Free Press Releases (our sister press release service), which publish after automated checks against the release and are marked as such. Stories carry his byline. We use real photographs supplied with the story or taken by us. We do not use stock photographs or AI-generated images.
Where we are
Newcastle Business News is a new title, launched in 2026. We are building a running record of business in Newcastle: the companies based here, its financial and professional services, the commercial-property market, the technology firms growing across the city, its hospitality and retail, and the people moving between them.
Our reporting is journalism about business and finance, not investment advice. It is published for general information and is no substitute for advice tailored to your own circumstances.
We would rather publish fewer stories and get them right than chase every headline.
